Since June 2007, 91.1 The Bridge (Former KAOS 91.1) has been promoting the values which have been foundational in building a strong Wood Buffalo Region through our vision of “Exposing Hope through Music Talk and Action”. Our strong launch is a result of strong community support from people who believe in healthy media.
We are a values-oriented community Christian Radio Station. We were owned by a registered Canadian charity [Kings Kids Promotions Outreach Ministries Inc.], and have since been sold to another wonderful Christian Radio Network - UCB Canada.
During the day, the station caters to a 25-54 audience with its variety of Hot Adult Contemporary [AC] and Contemporary Hit Radio [CHR]. Our research indicates that our average listener is approximately 34 year old Christian female.
Featured artists include: For King and Country, Jordan Feliz, Colton Dixon, Feancesca Battistelli, Tenth Avenue North, Switchfoot, Danny Gokey, David Dunn, Hillsong Young & Free, Hollyn, Family Force 5, Blanca, Tauren Wells, MercyMe, Hawk Nelson, The Afters, We Are Messengers, Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch, TobyMac, NF, Ryan Stevenson, Phil Wickham, Twenty One Pilots, Newsboys, NEEDTOBREATHE and Lauren Daigle.
91.1 The Bridge is a fun, relevant radio station aiming to encourage listeners through professional and entertaining announcers that can clearly identify and communicate with the station’s listeners.
91.1 The Bridge is more than a radio station, it’s an initiative! We’re passionate about reaching, building and activating people to make a positive impact in the world. Unlike any other radio station in the market, our objective is not only to entertain and inform, but to provide listeners with a vital community resource that will open doors to help, hope, and life options. We “GIVE HELP an ADDRESS” by featuring social service agencies and helping connect them to people in need of their services.
91.1 The Bridge is full of “social enterprise” through our Bridge community initiatives which include partnerships with the education, business, social profit sector, public health and religious sectors. Located in Fort McMurray Composite High School, the station is involved in supporting local talent and Media Literacy designed to increase student awareness of media impact, and so much more. Some successes have been the KAOS KAFÉ at InterPlay and the KAOS REPO CO--a street team which hit the streets of Fort McMurray during the summer of 2008
91.1 The Bridge prides itself on being the only station which offers a “family friendly guarantee,”
We are Licensed to Play with SOCAN - making sure the talented artists you hear on 91.1 The Bridge get paid for their work.
Why are we here?
We believe that getting people and agencies talking with each other and working together is the key to a strong and healthy community. Let’s work together to bring the Municipality of Wood Buffalo to life.
Vision: To be a healthy community alive with hope and possibility.
Mission: To be a bridge to hope and connect Wood Buffalo, its people and its organizations.
We are positive – We focus on strengths not weaknesses: in people, in organizations, in our community.
We are hopeful – All things are possible. We act from this belief and speak with expectant authority.
We are accepting - We embrace all people. We are welcoming non-judgmental and supportive.
We are humble - It’s not about us. It is about the individuals, the agencies, the community.
We are daring - We believe there are lots of ways to make things better, even some ideas that haven’t been tried before.
We are faithful - We honour our Christian roots by living lives of sacrifice to our community and its people.
We are a positive voice and force to and for the community, its families and its people.
We serve as a catalyst to inspire a strong community.
We give difference makers effective outlets in which to work and volunteer.
